Landscape Heterogeneity Determines the Diversity and Life History Traits of Ground Beetles (Coleoptera: Carabidae)

چکیده

Functional diversity is crucial to ecosystem functioning in agricultural landscapes. Intensive agriculture has led habitat homogeneity and thus a decrease biodiversity the disappearance of useful epigeic fauna. This study investigated how local types an landscape affect assemblage parameters (abundance, species richness Shannon–Wiener index) life history traits ground beetles (Coleoptera: Carabidae). The was conducted four types: Orchard, meadow, shrubs, forest. In each type, 12 sampling transects were selected, which individuals caught pitfall traps. Non-metric multidimensional scaling revealed significant differences beetle Carabidae) composition between habitats. generalized linear model showed that type influenced beetles’ traits. Abundance, number species, highest orchard. occurrence large brachypterous predators also strongly dependent on heterogeneity. Their presence orchard depended their distance from semi-natural habitats (shrubs or forest). results underscore importance heterogeneity for populations predatory Carabidae intensively used landscapes demonstrate role functional parameters, providing detailed information agroecosystem condition functioning.

The Influence of Landscape Heterogeneity - Ground Beetles (Coleoptera: Carabidae) in Fthiotida, Central Greece

Pitfall traps were used to sample Carabidae in agricultural land of the Spercheios valley, Fthiotida, Central Greece. Four pairs of cultivated fields were sampled. One field of each pair was located in a heterogeneous area and the other in a more homogeneous area. Heterogeneous areas were composed of small fields. They had high percentages of non-cropped habitats and a high diversity of land us...

Ground beetles of the Ukraine (Coleoptera, Carabidae)

A review of the ground beetles of the Ukrainian fauna is given. Almost 750 species from 117 genera of Carabidae are known to occur in the Ukraine. Approximately 450 species of ground beetles are registered in the Carpathian region. No less than 300 species of ground beetles are found in the forest zone. Approximately 400 species of Carabidae present in the forest-steppe zone are relatively simi...

Community composition and diversity of ground beetles (Coleoptera: Carabidae) in Yaoluoping National Nature Reserve

This study used pitfall trapping to examine community composition and diversity of ground beetles in five different habitats (coniferous, deciduous, mixed coniferous, farmland, and settlements) within Anhui Yaoluoping National Nature Reserve from May to September 2014. In total, 1,352 ground beetles were collected, belonging to 16 genera and 44 species. Of these, four dominant species Dolichus ...
